Associated with the element of water, the asperger is used to sprinkle saltwater for purposes of purification. There are actually many things that can be used for this purpose apart from store-bought aspergers. Feathers of all sizes work pretty well, as do brushes or paintbrushes. Most practitioners though, prefer to use a purpose bought asperger.
Find a Catholic supply company and you may well find one there as priests use them for sprinkling holy water. You probably won’t find them listed as aspergers though as the church calls them something different. You may find them listed as aspergilla or aspergillums which originates from the Latin name. Aspergilla is the correct plural but quite frankly you are more likely to see them listed as aspergillums.
