To protect yourself against deceit by uncovering the truth.
Timing:
On a Sunday when the moon is waxing.
Items Needed:
1 x dark blue candle
1 x 6" (15cm) square piece of slate or flat rough stone
1 x container of salt (with a spout for ease of pouring)
Matches or lighter
Casting the spell:
Cast your circle.
Light the candle and whisper the name of the person you think is guilty of deceit to it, making sure your breath is close enough to make the flame flicker.
Using the chalk, draw the runic symbol for ðagaz (thagaz) on the piece of slate or stone. Then pour the salt over the symbol by tracing it in an unbroken line.
Pick up the slate (carefully so as not to spill the salt) and hold it before the candle, saying:
Let it now be uncovered That which is hidden And (name of suspected deceiver) reveal The truth as he/she is bidden.
Blow away the salt and turn the chalk symbol to face the candle flame.
Close the circle.
Place the slate outside in the open until the chalk symbol has been totally washed away. The truth should be revealed to you within four moon cycles.
