The terms left-hand path and right-hand path refer to a supposed dichotomy between two distinct paths of a religion. The exact meaning of the terms has varied over time. In modern usage the term right-hand path is used to describe those who worship a deity, or deities, and observe a strict moral code. They use their magick for the good of all. This path is considered a positive use of energy.
Conversely the term left-hand path is used to describe those who put themselves first in their use of magick.
