The pendulum is one of the most versatile and convenient of all dowsing tools and this leads to its great popularity amongst dowsers of all ages and abilities. Dowsing is very much an inner process, a collaberation between the normal self and the intuitive self. A pendulum is thus a passive medium to this process.

Perhaps the ultimate goal of all dowsers is to dowse without the aid of any tools at all. This is however, beyond most dowsers. It's certainly not impossible but it will take many years of practice unless you are one of those rare individuals with a natural born gift.

A pendulum is literally any weight or object that can be made to freely swing. Whilst this can include many different items such as rings, necklaces and a host of home and office items most users prefer a specially made or purpose built pendulum.

Many choose pendulums of crystal, brass or copper, or sometimes items which have a personal significance. This may be a wedding ring, or some personal talisman etc.

There are various ways to use a pendulum. There is no right or wrong way to use dowsing tools. If you already have a way that works for you, use that. If you've tried something that didn't work for you, try a different way.
