Glyph: A sigil imbued with magick.

Gods & Goddesses: Immortal beings also called deities. Worshipped by their followers and invoked for magick. A "god" is generally male, whereas the female version is "goddess".

Grammary: Written magick. Including symbols, signs, Ogham, and sigils.

Great Rite: Ritual union of God and Goddess performed symbolically or sexually..

Grimoire: The personal notes of a Witch.

Grounding: Sending excess energy generated during a ritual into the earth back to the God or the Goddess from which it came.

Guardians: The Guardians of the north, east, south, and west quadrants of the circle. Also called the Watchtowers or Quarter Guardians, or Quarters.

Halloween: Another name for the Sabbat Samhain.

Hallows: Another name for the Sabbat Samhain.

Handfasting: The Wiccan equivalent of a wedding ceremony (it is only legal if performed by a registered clergyman). Handfasting vows are meant to be renewed annually.

Handparting: Similar to a seperation or divorce. Symbolically it is the cutting of the binds created by a handfasting.

Heptagram: A seven-pointed star drawn with one unbroken line. Symbolic of the number seven. Important to the seven traditional astrological planets and to the seven chakras.

Herb: A small plant often used within spells.

Hereditary Witch: A descendent from a line of Witches who has learnt the Craft from a member of this descent.

Hexagram: A geometric figure formed by two overlapping triangles. It is also called the Star of David. While it is sometimes used in modern magick to invoke or banish spirits, it is traditionally Jewish.

High Magick: Ceremonial magick involving the actions of deities or spirits.

High Priest: Male leader of a Coven.

High Priestess: Female leader of a Coven.

Horned God: Pagan father God often mistakenly associated with Satan. This is a misconception.

Imbolc: Pagan Sabbat celebrated on February 2nd.

Image: Altar piece representing God or Goddess which is usually a statue, but can be almost anything. .

Incant: To chant.

Initiate: Someone who has undergone the rite of entry into a coven or circle.

Initiation: Admission ceremony for an intiate to gain entry into a coven or circle.

Inward Silence: The silencing of emotions and thoughts that could disturb the effectiveness of a ritual or spell.

Invocation: The bringing of a divine power into a ritual or magickal working through chant or prayer. Generally an acknowledgement of the deity and a request that they be present for the working.

Invoke: To request the attention (or presence) of forces or beings from a high level of existence than our own.
